Job Overview

Salary: $16.50

We are seeking a dedicated material handler for various shifts.

Available Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday from 8am - 4:30pm
  • 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday from 4:30pm - 3:00am - includes a $2 shift differential
  • C Shift: Friday - Sunday from 6am - 6pm - includes a $4 shift differential

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Identify and address production needs to reduce downtime while adhering to safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Perform tasks such as labeling, sorting, organizing, wrapping, packing, or re-packing materials.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace to ensure safety, compliance, and integrity of products and materials, including assigned sanitation duties.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant personnel regarding quality, food safety, and product/material safety.
  • Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment.
  • Keep certifications current and participate in all necessary training related to material handling equipment.
  • Be accountable for compliance with GMP's, OSHA, USDA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Possess the physical capability to stand for an entire shift, lift and carry up to 15 pounds, squat, bend, twist, and maintain visual acuity for quality inspections. Ability to work at heights may be required. Some tasks may necessitate lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Material Handler Responsibilities:

  • Supply multiple production lines with raw materials and manage the removal of finished products for storage or shipping.

Material Handler with CDL Responsibilities:

  • Inspect incoming and outgoing items to ensure accuracy of identifying information, checking for damage, shortages, or overages, and report any issues to the Materials Supervisor.
  • Transfer product loads while maintaining quality and count to and from off-site warehouses.
  • Basic reading, writing, math, and sequencing skills are required, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • Efficiently load and unload trucks in shipping and receiving areas or off-site warehouses.
  • If serving as a CDL Driver, maintain a current and unrestricted Commercial Driver's License for tractor-trailer and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Satisfactory completion of a Vocational Rehabilitation Program
  • Material handling or shipping/receiving experience is advantageous
  • 2+ years of experience operating powered forklifts
  • Completion of forklift operation training
  • Must maintain a current driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type and personal vehicle insurance if driving company vehicles.
  • A valid NC Driver's License must be obtained within 60 days of hire if the current license is from another state.
