GENERAL OVERVIEW

This role is integral to the clinical team at CHC-SEK. The individual in this position will be tasked with the precise preparation of controlled substances as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Effective communication with patients, clinical personnel, and medical practitioners is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure adherence to ACHC specialty pharmacy accreditation standards.
  • Examine prescriptions from providers for accuracy and determine necessary formulas and components.
  • Accurately dispense controlled medications in a timely manner.
  • Engage in Medication Therapy Management by assessing patient medications and offering clinical recommendations based on established guidelines.
  • Provide patient counseling with clear instructions on medication usage.
  • Uphold established protocols regarding the security of controlled substances and the disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Input data accurately into the information management system.
  • Facilitate effective communication with clinical staff and providers.
  • Prepare necessary reports as required.
  • Pre-authorize medications as mandated by insurance providers.
  • Execute all tasks, services, and documentation in strict compliance with CHC-SEK policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity suitable for a diverse patient and employee population.
  • Exhibit understanding of the principles of appropriate patient care.
  • Communicate through the proper channels, utilizing the appropriate chain of command for patient concerns.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations with composure and effectiveness.
  • Proficient in computer use, particularly with Microsoft Office applications and internet navigation.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and other healthcare team members.
  • Deliver customer service aligned with the organization's mission.
  • Interact courteously and respectfully with patients and their families.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA regulations.
