Pediatric CRNA: A Critical Care Specialist

In this position, you will work closely with the anesthesia team, including anesthesiology assistants, resident physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to the specific needs of each pediatric patient. You will collaborate with attending anesthesiologists to prepare and administer anesthetic agents, carefully monitor patients' vital signs and bodily functions, and adjust anesthesia levels as necessary throughout medical or surgical procedures.
Your commitment to patient safety, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure will be essential as you navigate complex cases and manage any potential complications that may arise. Your dedication to providing compassionate care to pediatric patients and their families will contribute to creating a positive and comforting environment during their healthcare journey.
Responsibilities:
• Prepares and administers anesthetic agents to patients in order to desensitize them to permit the performance of medical or surgical procedures.
• Performs pre-anesthesia evaluation of the patient in order to ascertain physiological and psychological factors which influence the selection of anesthetic agent and the formulation of the plan of anesthetic management.
• Monitors the patient in the operating room in order to maintain the patients in a homeostatic condition and to assure that unnecessary injuries are not inflicted on the patient.
• Records anesthetic information on the anesthesia chart to provide a permanent record necessary for the care of the patient, to provide material for teaching, for study, and to establish a medical-legal record.
• Provides clinical supervision or guidance of nurse anesthesia students, paramedical, and medical students in order to contribute to their clinical training.
• Responds to emergency situations.
• Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
Requirements:
• Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Current Texas Licensure as APRN
• Current American Association of Nurse Anesthetist certification (AANA)
• BLS, ACLS and/or other specialty certification as required by department
• Minimum Education: Masters in Nurse Anesthesia
