Compensation: $30-35 per hour based on experience

Role Summary: As a Flexible Packaging Machine Technician, you will be integral to the production of premium flexible packaging solutions. This role demands substantial expertise in managing and troubleshooting sophisticated machinery utilized in the flexible packaging sector. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the effective and accurate operation of equipment, adhering to production timelines, and upholding the highest standards of quality and safety throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup and Operation:
  • Configure and fine-tune flexible packaging production machinery, including extruders, laminators, and pouch-making equipment, to fulfill specific production criteria.
  • Oversee and modify machine settings such as temperature, pressure, speed, and tension to guarantee optimal production conditions and consistency in product quality.
  • Operate machinery to manufacture flexible packaging in various dimensions, shapes, and materials according to client specifications and production directives.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct regular evaluations of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure compliance with company quality benchmarks and customer expectations.
  • Detect and rectify any defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from standards, and implement corrective measures to avert future issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of quality assessments, production metrics, and machine configurations for traceability and ongoing enhancement.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
  • Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational challenges with machinery to minimize downtime and sustain production efficiency.
  • Execute routine preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components, to ensure machinery operates at optimal levels.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team for more complex repairs and maintenance activities, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
  • Production Coordination:
  • Work closely with the production manager and team members to strategize and implement production schedules, ensuring timely order fulfillment while maximizing machine utilization.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished products, and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the relevant personnel.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior operators and team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge of machinery and production processes.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards in all aspects of production.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to the supervisor immediately and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience in operating machinery within the flexible packaging or plastic extrusion industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of flexible packaging manufacturing processes, including extrusion, lamination, and pouch-making.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing context.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with exposure to noise, heat, and chemicals.
