Job Title: Classroom Health Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Health Specialist to join our team at Great Hearts Academies. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and staff to develop and implement health-related policies and procedures.
  • Provide direct care to students with identified health needs, utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
  • Initiate and maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization records and individualized healthcare plans.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding individual students' health needs and serve as a liaison between school personnel, healthcare professionals, and the community.
  • Attend Admission Review & Dismissal (ARD) meetings of students with identified health needs and develop individualized health care plans.
  • Collaborate with district personnel to implement health-related Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and services.
  • Develop and recommend campus policies and procedures to promote the health and wellness of students and staff.
  • Provide consultation to campus administration in crisis/emergency situations and participate in professional development to maintain professional nursing skills and knowledge.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate unlicensed assistive personnel and other school personnel as designated by the campus headmaster.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Expertise in student-specific case management plans for acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational, communication, mentoring, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • One (1) year nursing experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must complete Texas Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance and background check.
  • Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 50 pounds approximately.
