Job Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the technical execution of assigned projects or proposals. This role involves monitoring and coordinating technical deliverables to ensure they meet contract scope and quality requirements. The Project Engineer serves as the primary technical contact with clients.

  • Deliver a quality product while maintaining schedule and achieving overall project success for the project and client.
  • Coordinate engineering input to support schedule development for individual and subsequent interdisciplinary planning.
  • Work with discipline leads to ensure they stay on schedule, including activities required of engineering to support procurement.
  • Coordinate and monitor schedule updates and submittals.
  • Coordinate with clients, internal and external, and discipline leads to determine design codes and establish overall design criteria for the project.
  • Develop and communicate to disciplines the engineering scope of work and project engineering plan.
  • Ensure disciplines stay within scope and as-sold intent of the project, including items such as interpretation of scope, assisting in identifying budget deviations, determining potential for change orders, and coordinating cost estimate/schedule impact with discipline leads.
  • Implement approved project changes and associated schedule impact for the project and communication of changes to discipline leads.
  • Verify discipline project quality processes are being followed.
  • Hold reoccurring design coordination meetings as needed with discipline leads to ensure inter-discipline coordination and that all discipline leads work in conjunction with one another.
  • Coordinate with project management, procurement, and document control to establish project-specific or confirm standard vendor submittal documentation requirements and reviews.
  • Coordinate discipline field support, field communication, and establishing the RFI system.
  • Oversee that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures.
  • Oversee that the project is engineered in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
  • Review and provide engineering input in support for the weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
  • Participate in project review meetings.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in any engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university required.
  • 5+ years of experience leading multiple disciplines, including mechanical, structural, electrical, and control systems, in the execution of EPC projects and proposals.
  • Desired experience with engineered fixed equipment includes above-ground storage tanks and low-temperature systems (LNG, ammonia, etc.).
  • Ability to understand client specifications, procurement, commissioning, and start-up standards, documentation, practices, vendor data approvals, etc.
  • Overtime and travel will be required.
