Key ResponsibilitiesThe Business Construction Technician will be responsible for overseeing construction activities at various job sites and supervising construction teams in the field. This role involves:
- Preparing for Loose Tube, Mid-Sheath, and Splitting Ribbon Buffer Tube fiber optic cable.
- Splicing various types of fiber optic cables and managing customer and company termination panels.
- Utilizing Optical Time Domain Reflector meters for fiber testing and conducting visual fault light and power meter readings.
- Completing building entrances for service installations.
- Engaging in aerial telecommunications construction and developing aerial network fiber (FTTX).
- Interpreting work orders, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Documenting fiber installations and understanding relevant maps and splice documentation.
- Performing physical construction tasks such as digging, climbing, and cable installation.
- Facilitating sales opportunities by providing essential construction data to meet company performance metrics.
- Conducting route inspections to assess pole lines and buried routes.
- Ensuring operational standards are met by contributing to strategic planning and resolving construction-related issues.
- Operating power equipment and performing maintenance tasks as needed.
- Responding to emergency situations that require construction expertise.
- Maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance with regulations.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel as required.
- Completing additional duties as assigned.
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in equipment installation, cable splicing, or related fields.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to accommodate after-hours work as necessary.
- A valid Iowa Driver License with a clean driving record.
