Fire Extinguisher Service Technician

About the Role:

This Fire Extinguisher Service Technician position is a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our customers and employees. As a Fire Extinguisher Service Technician, you will be responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and test fire extinguishers to ensure they are functioning properly
  • Identify and report any system deficiencies or issues
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely inspection reports
  • Install and service fire extinguishers in commercial and residential buildings
  • Test and repair fire extinguishers already in place
  • Perform inspections to ensure fire extinguishers are installed according to code
  • Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues
  • Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Protect and maintain company equipment
  • Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, in a way that facilitates the loading and unloading of the truck while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer's safety instructions for that equipment
  • Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures including driver safety and personal protective equipment
  • Respond to emergency service calls
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Perform other duties assigned by management

Requirements:

  • A high school education or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards is preferred
  • Experience with fire extinguishers is preferred
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site
  • Flexibility with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments
  • Ability to display knowledge of principles and practices of life safety
  • Ability to display knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work
  • Ability to display knowledge of basic practices of reviewing official documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
