POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Automotive Service Consultant is responsible for selling and scheduling essential service work within the service department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Coordinate service appointments, gathering customer and vehicle information in advance when feasible.
  • Welcome customers promptly and courteously, collecting necessary vehicle details.
  • Accurately document customer vehicle issues on the repair order.
  • Review service history, conduct vehicle inspections, and suggest additional services as needed.
  • Guide customers on vehicle maintenance and the importance of adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Provide comprehensive and precise written estimates for labor and parts.
  • Set and communicate 'promised time' for service completion, consulting with the dispatcher or Team leader as necessary.
  • Secure customer approval on repair orders and furnish them with a copy.
  • Determine customer payment methods and obtain credit approvals when required.
  • Inform the dispatcher of incoming service requests.
  • Monitor repair progress throughout the day, updating customers on any changes to estimates or timelines, and securing authorization for additional repairs.
  • Implement and sustain a service marketing initiative.
  • Review repair orders to confirm completion of work and that any additional work and authorizations are documented. Close repair orders appropriately once payment is received and the vehicle is collected.
  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer relationship skills and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and industry updates.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Effectively manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and multitask under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and driven for success.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and promptly.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve both individual and collective objectives.
  • Present a professional appearance and maintain a positive, energetic demeanor.
  • Understand and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Pass background and drug screenings.
