Position Overview
The Licensed Physical Therapist is accountable for assessing, diagnosing, and creating tailored treatment strategies for individuals experiencing functional impairments and disabilities. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless continuum of care for patients. The individual must engage effectively with all patients, regardless of their age or cultural background, while adhering to the customer service standards set forth by Spectrum Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Conducts comprehensive Physical Therapy evaluations, interprets findings, formulates treatment and discharge plans, implements therapeutic interventions, re-evaluates progress, and educates patients and their families.
- Documentation: Accurately records evaluation results, treatment plans, and daily therapy notes in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards; submits billing for services rendered.
- Communication: Maintains effective verbal, written, and electronic communication, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, referral sources, physicians, and insurance providers.
- Leadership: Engages in community outreach, quality improvement initiatives, marketing efforts, and program development; provides guidance and mentorship to staff and students.
- Professional Development: Participates in staff meetings and enhances professional skills through ongoing education, in-services, and clinical supervision of students.
- Resource Management: Efficiently manages departmental resources and supervises assigned support personnel.
- Collaborative Care: Works closely with intra- and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care and involves patients and their families in treatment and discharge planning.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with licensure and regulatory board requirements, maintaining good standing with all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Physical Therapy.
- Preferred: Master's degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
- Licensure: Must possess a valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Michigan upon hire.
- Certifications: At least one certification from the approved list and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC required upon hire.
Work Environment
This position is full-time, with day shifts scheduled. Flexibility in working hours is expected, including potential weekend shifts.
