We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Seattle. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, or overhauling trucks, or maintaining and repairing any type of diesel engines.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair complex diesel engine problems
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication
- Inspect and test equipment to identify malfunctions
- Repair and replace engine systems, including aftertreatment, transmission, clutch, air brake, wheel end assembly, suspension, cooling, coupling, charging, light systems, vacuum, and hydraulics
- Fabricate, recondition, and replace parts as needed
- Detail wash parts using industrial steam cleaner machines
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment
- Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper operation
- Raise trucks, heavy parts, or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists
- Clean work areas, machines, and equipment using shop air, brooms, mops, and industrial water hoses
- Interact with colleagues in a professional and ethical manner
- Follow department and company procedures
- Attend work regularly and punctually
- Knowledge of repair and maintenance of commercial vehicle operating systems
- Knowledge of safety equipment, policies, and procedures
- Ability to maintain and repair equipment using appropriate tools
- Certification for air brake system repairs
- Valid CDL and DOT medical card preferred
- Ability to use English to communicate verbally and in writing
- High school diploma or equivalent; maintenance vocational education training preferred
- 2 years experience in an enclosed garage maintenance manufacturing
- Constantly operate and use maintenance/mechanic tools, including electrical hand tools
- Ascend/descend equipment to perform maintenance on vehicles
- Move around industrial equipment in manufacturing facilities and garage workshops
- Exposed to chemicals and fumes common in the use of commercial vehicles
