Job Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for designing, governing, and sustaining the collective database environment of LRE and its associated Data Warehouse and Lake. This includes evaluating and selecting infrastructure components, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance tuning production databases to ensure high levels of data availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones, including proposals/solutions for any deficiencies found in the environment.
  2. Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access and database consistency and integrity.
  3. Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  4. Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  5. Monitor, optimize, and allocate physical data storage for database systems.
  6. Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
  7. Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
  8. Create or support creation of required reports in response to business user needs.
  9. Perform database transaction and security audits.
  10. Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
  11. Develop routines for end users to facilitate best practices database use.
  12. Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or MIS with 4+ years experience, and/or 8+ years equivalent work or military experience.
  • Certifications in Microsoft development technologies (.Net, Azure Cloud certifications such as Azure Data Platform, Databricks, Azure DevOps) are a plus.
  • Experience in power generation, renewable energy, or retail electricity business in deregulated markets within North America is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting database servers, warehouses, lakes, and/or consolidations.
  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working effectively in a high-growth environment, independently and in a team-oriented environment.
