Key Responsibilities
  • Review submitted plans to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Provide interpretation and explanation of building codes and regulations to applicants, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Conduct field inspections to evaluate buildings and structures for compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Enforce municipal ordinances regulating building construction, safety, zoning, and site development
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, or related field preferred
  • 2 years of experience in construction, construction administration, plans review, building inspection, or related field
  • Valid driver's license required
  • International Code Council (ICC) Residential Plans Examiner Certification and/or ICC Building Plans Examiner Certification (R3) required
