Job Description

The Mannik & Smith Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll, as well as compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entries to the general ledger.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Process biweekly payroll within the ADP system.
  • Review and process timesheet data weekly for accuracy and allowable hours.
  • Calculate and upload manual payroll batches, including salary promotions, bonuses, clothing deductions, and wellness earnings.
  • Manage payroll questions from employees.
  • Audit and update employee data changes in ADP.
  • Process changes to payroll, including new hires, terminations, and wage increases.
  • Maintain compliance with tax law, including federal and multi-state registration, regulations, and filings.
  • Upload tax notifications to SmartCompliance and work with ADP to resolve any tax issues.
  • Register for tax jurisdictions and ensure they are set up properly in SmartCompliance.
  • Perform a monthly payroll audit.
  • Manage PTO accruals on a monthly basis.
  • Work closely with the ADP MPS and Garnishment teams to correct any payroll-related issues.
  • Verify all quarterly and annual payroll tax returns filed by ADP.
  • Analyze financial information to prepare and record payroll-related journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Provide year-end support for audit requirements.
  • Recommend best practices for efficiency and accuracy in payroll processes.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in payroll and accounting.
  • Payroll processing experience with ADP is a plus.
  • Understanding of multi-state tax registration, regulations, and filings is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
