Job Description:

Broadcom is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Applications Engineer to join our team in the High Speed Interconnect Products group.

As a Principal Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to Tier 1 customers who are designing their products with Broadcom's high-speed phys.

Your primary focus will be on becoming an expert in the architecture of our 100+ Gigabit phys, which enables Broadcom to maintain its market-leading position.

You will work closely with customers and our Field Applications Engineers to ensure the successful launch of finished products.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting customers with architecture and low-level hardware questions and issues
  • Providing pre-sales and post-sales support via email, phone, and customer visits
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Contributing to product definition and roadmap
  • Analyzing customer architecture and requirements
  • Debugging complicated issues and problems
  • Board debugging and bring-up
  • Schematic and layout design reviews
  • Training customers and Field Applications Engineers

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams.

You will also need to have a strong understanding of high-speed SerDes, Ethernet systems, and optical systems, as well as experience with debugging and troubleshooting complex issues.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, and a minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience and/or knowledge in most if not all of the following areas:
    • Applications Engineering
    • Direct customer interaction and involvement
    • Project or time management skills
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently
    • Ability to explain and train others on complex technology
    • Debugging of complicated problems or bugs
    • Hardware/software/firmware bring-up
    • Training of customers and/or FAEs
  • Architecture and Low Level Hardware/Software
  • Strong working knowledge of high-speed (10Gbps+) phy and SerDes

We offer a competitive salary range of $141,000 - $225,000, as well as a discretionary annual bonus and equity in accordance with relevant plan documents and equity award agreements.
