The Director of Special Events and Protocol will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing various events throughout the year. These events may include commencements, convocations, Board of Visitors meetings, presidential meetings, ceremonial events, anniversaries, Welcome Week and Getting Started Week events, freshman dessert series, family weekend, homecoming, holiday events, advancement/fund-raising events, major faculty events, major athletics events, faculty/staff appreciation events, dedications, groundbreakings, and other events as assigned.
This role requires exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will have experience managing budgets, overseeing logistical arrangements, and developing detailed guidelines and protocols for event management. They will also be proficient in basic graphic design and able to create invitations, flyers, emails, and social media marketing materials.
The Director of Special Events and Protocol will report directly to the President's Office and will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of events, including vendor information, guest lists, attendance counts, and providing final data to partner departments following each event.
