Quality Engineer

Aegis Worldwide is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join their team in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area. As a Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality standards are met in the manufacturing process.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Quality Assurance: Act as the primary point of contact for all quality assurance requirements, ensuring grade 1 quality standards are met.
  2. Quality Planning: Plan and execute quality-related activities in alignment with project management objectives.
  3. Supplier Management: Conduct supplier audits, process inspections, and define quality targets with suppliers.
  4. Quality Control: Establish and manage supplier agreements to ensure quality standards are met.
  5. Documentation: Create work and test instructions during the project phase.
  6. Customer Engagement: Engage in quality planning discussions with customers.
  7. Complaint Resolution: Handle and resolve complaints from customers and suppliers.
  8. Sample Management: Manage initial samples from suppliers to customers.
  9. Tolerance Samples: Prepare tolerance samples as required.
  10. Inspection Planning: Develop inspection plans for prototype, pilot production, series, and laboratory stages.
  11. Material Compliance: Procure original samples from customers for analysis and testing.
  12. Certification and Capability Studies: Conduct certification and capability studies to validate quality processes.
  13. Process Acceptance: Facilitate internal process acceptance and provide support to suppliers.
  14. Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve quality problems by identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
  15. IMDS Compliance: Utilize the International Material Data System (IMDS) for material compliance and reporting.
  16. Test Equipment Planning: Plan test equipment requirements, including design, performance specifications, and approvals.
  17. Subsidiary Support: Support and qualify subsidiaries in relation to serial projects.
  18. Production Stopping: Exercise the authority to stop production when necessary to ensure quality standards are upheld.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED required. A university degree in Quality or Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technician, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is essential.
  • Experience with automotive supplier audits is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the field, including leadership experience.
