Role Summary
The Senior Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for the seamless and organized registration of patients. This pivotal role ensures that patients have a positive experience while navigating the healthcare system. Acts as a key liaison for individuals receiving both professional and hospital services at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Takes on a leadership role within the department, facilitating the communication of operational policies and procedures to the Patient Access team.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities of a Patient Access Coordinator. Provides coverage for staff as needed and performs all necessary functions of the role.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of the front-end registration systems and collaborates with IT to ensure accurate and efficient use of these systems, implementing updates as required.
- Conducts training sessions for staff to ensure a thorough understanding of the registration process, insurance verification, and treatment authorization requirements. Ensures staff are well-oriented to their job expectations to fulfill their roles effectively.
- Offers constructive feedback regarding employee performance to the Supervisor of Admitting, aiding in the annual performance review process and necessary corrective actions.
- Addresses and resolves issues with both internal and external clients, engaging other supervisors and department managers as needed.
- Maintains positive relationships with patients, insurance providers, government agencies, clinical staff, colleagues, and management to foster teamwork and uphold a positive public image for the organization.
- Acts as a leader in managing quality and productivity initiatives.
- Keeps abreast of payer information to ensure accurate billing and compliance with all relevant laws and agreements.
- Participates in various educational programs to maintain and enhance skills and competencies.
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.
