Critical Care Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at SSM Health. As a Critical Care Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care to critically ill patients, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest level of care and patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Obtain comprehensive data from patients, families, and other healthcare providers to develop a holistic picture of patient needs or conditions.
- Analyze and synthesize data to determine diagnoses or conditions relevant to care.
- Identify optimal outcomes for patients in collaboration with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
- Develop plans that prescribe strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes, using clinical judgment in collaboration with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
- Implement plans, employing strategies to promote and maintain a safe environment, coordinating implementation with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
- Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
- Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluating own practice, and maintaining current knowledge and competence.
- Communicate effectively in all areas of practice, collaborating with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
- Use clinical inquiry and integrate best evidence into practice.
- Apply the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to critical care nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
- No experience required.
- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Essentials - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
