Position Overview

Organization: Sutter Health

Role Summary: The EEG Technician is responsible for conducting non-invasive neurophysiological assessments under minimal supervision, adhering to physician directives and patient history. Responsibilities encompass inpatient EEG evaluations across various hospital departments, including neonatal and intensive care units, as well as outpatient services such as routine and ambulatory EEGs. The technician may also provide support at the monitoring station as needed, catering to patients of all ages.

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Certification and Licensure:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Preferred: Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist II
Required: REEGT certification for EEG performance.

Skills and Expertise:
• Comprehensive understanding of neuroanatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
• Proficient in electro-neurologic testing techniques and equipment.
• Experience in acute care settings performing EEGs on diverse patient populations, including infants, children, and adults.
• Familiarity with The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards.
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities, capable of working independently.
• Adaptability to fast-paced environments and handling of high-pressure situations.
• Proficient in English language comprehension and communication.
• Typing speed of at least 55 words per minute.
• Ability to manage strong odors associated with medical environments.
• Competence in working with patients with special needs or altered consciousness levels.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining clear communication across shifts.
• Patience and dexterity in managing electrode wires and maintaining organization of equipment.
• Professional demeanor when interacting with various personality types.
• Knowledge of 10/20 electrode placement and lead attachment techniques.
• Adherence to standard safety protocols as per hospital policy.
• Maintenance of EEG and Electrophysiology (EP) equipment in optimal condition.
• Capacity to multitask while ensuring accuracy despite interruptions.

Work Schedule:
Varied shifts, Per Diem/Casual, with flexible hours including weekends as needed.

Compensation:
Hourly pay range for this position is between $46.14 and $57.67. Registered EEG Technicians may earn between $61.16 and $76.44 per hour. Compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and certifications.
