Role Summary:
The EEG Technician is responsible for conducting non-invasive neurophysiological assessments under minimal supervision, adhering to physician directives and patient history. This role encompasses inpatient EEG procedures across various hospital departments, including neonatal and intensive care units, as well as outpatient services such as routine and ambulatory EEG testing. The technician may also provide coverage for staff at the monitoring station as needed, catering to patients of all ages.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Certification & Licensure:
BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist II (preferred)
REEGT - Registered Electroencephalographic/Neurodiagnostic Technologist for EEG procedures
Skills and Expertise:
- Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the neurological system.
- Proficient in electro-neurologic testing and the operation of related equipment.
- Experience in acute care environments, performing EEGs on patients from infancy to adulthood.
- Familiarity with accreditation standards set by The Joint Commission (TJC).
- Strong critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and capability to work independently.
- Adaptability to fast-paced and challenging scenarios, with appropriate responses in critical situations.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
- Typing speed of at least 55 words per minute.
- Ability to tolerate strong odors (e.g., collodion, acetone, bleach).
- Competence in managing patients with special needs or altered consciousness levels.
- Team-oriented with effective communication skills across shifts.
- Patience and dexterity in managing electrode wires and maintaining equipment organization.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with diverse personalities.
- Knowledge of 10/20 electrode placement and accurate lead attachment.
- Adherence to standard precautions as per hospital policy.
- Maintenance of EEG/Electrophysiology (EP) equipment in optimal condition.
- Ability to multitask effectively amidst interruptions.

Compensation:
Pay range for this position is between $46.14 and $57.67 per hour. Registered EEG Technicians can expect a pay range of $61.16 to $76.44 per hour. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.
