Senior RBL Engineering Specialist

The Senior Engineer will be positioned within the Americas Credit Division and will undertake the following responsibilities:
  • Conducting thorough evaluations of both external and internal engineering assessments related to scheduled and interim Borrowing Base re-evaluations. This will involve a comprehensive review of production volumes, performance curves, loss of service (LOS), pricing structures, differentials, and other pertinent data to confirm the accuracy of the reports and forecasts, while also formulating independent insights and conclusions. This analysis will be performed in accordance with the RBL credit guidelines.
  • Delivering reports to non-engineering colleagues that effectively outline and assess the risks associated with the reviewed reserves, alongside providing reconciliations and future projections.
  • Exploring opportunities beyond standard Borrowing Base re-evaluations to offer engineering risk insights to deal teams involved in new ventures in the U.S. or Canada, including financing, mergers and acquisitions advisory, project finance, and credit risk evaluations of exploration and production companies as counterparties in Midstream transactions.
  • Recommending Mizuho's pricing framework for RBLs, which is subject to quarterly adjustments as per policy.
  • Participating in bank meetings and discussions, particularly those that require technical expertise. The individual will be expected to travel for many of these engagements. Additionally, upon request, the Engineer may accompany deal team members to meetings where technical knowledge is essential.
  • Serving as the point of contact for engineers at partner banks and clients.
  • Evaluating opportunities from a financial perspective, linking reserve assessments with corporate performance and sustainability objectives.
Requirements:
  • A degree in petroleum engineering with over 15 years of relevant experience, preferably with recent roles in commercial or corporate banking engineering.
  • Extensive expertise in assessing various U.S. onshore basins; familiarity with Gulf of Mexico, Canadian, and other international basins is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex information to non-engineering professionals.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (such as Aries and PhDWin) and a commitment to establishing these tools as standard practices within the bank.
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous.
