Position Overview:

The Medical Laboratory Technologist conducts laboratory analyses on received samples, delivering critical clinical data for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of medical conditions. This position is accountable for maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and safety in all assigned technical responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits expertise and adheres to testing protocols and policies, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards for equipment and workspaces, and documenting corrective actions for any discrepancies.
  • Prepares necessary reagents, ensures a sufficient inventory of materials for testing procedures, and manages stock levels to minimize waste and costs.
  • Utilizes clinical judgment to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot issues, and propose solutions to testing systems through appropriate departmental channels, including contacting specialists for assistance when needed.
  • Participates in the review and modification of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards from relevant authorities.
  • Maintains effective communication across shifts and with management regarding any issues, concerns, or challenges that may impact patient care or departmental operations.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of an MLS or MLT degree is required.
  • ASCP certification or eligibility within one year is mandatory (AMT certification is also accepted).

Experience Requirements:

  • Core laboratory experience is essential, with specific expertise in urinalysis, hematology, and chemistry.
  • Recent graduates are welcome to apply.

Work Schedule: 3x12 shifts, 6 PM to 6:30 AM (includes rotating weekends and holidays or every weekend plus one additional day).

Compensation:

  • Medical Technologist: $38.25 per hour.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician: $20.50 - $28.25 per hour.
