Position Overview

In this role, you will spearhead various initiatives within the manufacturing sector aimed at boosting productivity, enhancing efficiency, and managing costs effectively. As a Lead Project Manager, you will collaborate across diverse business units, overseeing projects such as equipment acquisition, continuous improvement strategies, process refinement, new product launches, and process transfers. Your responsibilities will include supporting the organization through routine management, troubleshooting equipment and processes, planning and executing capital expenditures (CAPEX), and improving operational efficiencies. Furthermore, you will manage project execution utilizing established methodologies and tools, working closely with the Quality team to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with vendors. Special projects may involve facility consolidations and providing manufacturing support to external sites. You will be accountable for creating and maintaining project timelines and offering coaching and mentoring to colleagues on systems, processes, and project management. Continuously seeking improvement opportunities, you will identify areas for training, project management enhancements, and other focal points as determined by management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management - 75%

  • Identify, develop, and implement specific improvement opportunities related to the efficiency and productivity of various manufacturing and business functions. Facilitate the definition of project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Oversee projects through all phases from needs assessment to design and delivery.
  • Direct the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple projects of varying sizes and scopes, recommending adjustments to project work plans as necessary to accommodate changing needs and requirements.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental projects and resources, identifying and defining resource requirements and assignments. Define roles and responsibilities, aligning and managing internal and external resources globally, including internal stakeholders, project team members, and senior manufacturing leaders.
  • Manage all resources assigned to the project, including defining each team member's role and responsibility.
  • Create, support, and maintain project plans that accurately reflect task owners, completed and upcoming work, including timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Present reports detailing project progress, challenges, and solutions. Communicate effectively with management, functional leaders, subject matter experts, and project team members.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and project management skills, including data collection, analysis, recommendation development, and project plan creation.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making abilities related to system design, manufacturing process development, and tactical business decisions.
  • Possess strong leadership and influence skills, capable of building collaborative relationships and completing tasks without direct accountability.
  • Exhibit outstanding organizational, communication (both verbal and written), and relationship skills conducive to collaboration.
  • Maintain solid knowledge and understanding of business processes.
  • Demonstrate excellent formal presentation skills before both small and large groups.
  • Exercise a high level of discretion and autonomy in completing tasks.
  • Utilize lean philosophies and methodologies for process enhancement.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the function, including standard work and root-cause-countermeasure processes in support of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Engage with the department's Lean tracking tools and provide data as needed for monthly performance documentation against agreed-upon KPIs.
  • Participate in, conduct, or facilitate Kaizen events when appropriate and support the resulting action plans.
Change Management:
  • Document new processes and procedures.
  • Implement process, technology, or organizational changes based on identified solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver all communications related to the initiative.
  • Develop comprehensive implementation plans.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from recommendation to implementation, including the preparation of performance metrics for progress evaluation.
Daily Manufacturing Support - 25%
  • Support the achievement of site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through routine management programs and addressing countermeasures.
  • Provide ongoing support to enhance efficiencies and quality output across manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in and lead Quality and HSE incident Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives.
  • Support all aspects of new product scale-up and transition from New Product Development and Product Insourcing.
Qualifications for Success
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant business experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of experience managing business projects from concept to implementation.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated analytical and project management skills, including data gathering, analysis, and project plan development.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills in system design and manufacturing process development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary for effective cross-functional team management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to manufacturing quality production.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically about proposed programs or process changes, providing meaningful insights to business stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication (both verbal and written), and relationship skills conducive to collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of business processes.
  • Excellent formal presentation skills before diverse audiences.
