Position: Kitchen Manager
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: EXEMPT, PART-TIME, SALARY
REPORTS TO: Congregational and Online Care Pastor
SUMMARY: The Kitchen Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing exceptional food service and hospitality for ministry events, services, and various gatherings hosted by Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral (WOFFWC). This position involves leading a dedicated team in the preparation, presentation, and delivery of food services, ensuring a delightful and safe experience for all attendees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver outstanding hospitality to all visitors, members, and guests, maintaining a professional and tidy appearance.
- Act as the main contact for Hospitality Ministry activities, primarily focusing on Sunday morning breakfast, MASS, WOW, funerals, and special events as approved.
- Collaborate with the Congregational and Online Care Pastor (COCP) and bereaved families to provide catering services at their preferred locations.
- Review and authorize all catering contracts, ensuring compliance with ServSafe certification, while managing vendor relationships for food supplies and kitchen equipment.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring all food, beverages, and supplies are adequately stocked and documented for upcoming ministry needs.
- Coordinate the scheduling and management of authorized caterers utilizing the kitchen facilities.
- Evaluate and approve invoices related to food services, maintaining accurate records for review.
- Guide chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation and service, ensuring the highest quality and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure proper setup and breakdown of events requiring hospitality services, collaborating with the Campus Facilities Director for logistical support.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, enforcing sanitation practices and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary.
- Manage the ministry budget effectively, preparing reports for monthly meetings with the COCP to discuss expenditures and future needs.
- Stay informed about ServSafe guidelines and safety protocols, ensuring compliance within the kitchen.
- Develop production schedules to meet ministry service requirements, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage.
- Recruit and train volunteers for the Hospitality Ministry, conducting meetings as needed.
- Address any escalated guest issues or complaints, ensuring proper reporting of incidents to the COCP.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Proven leadership experience, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of cooking techniques and food safety standards.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in training and mentoring kitchen staff and volunteers.
- Strong interpersonal skills, maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to confidentiality and discretion in all matters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least two years of experience in food service management or leadership for teams of 20 or more.
- Experience in catering for large groups exceeding 50 individuals.
- Proficient in budget management and expense tracking.
- Knowledge of safety equipment usage to prevent workplace injuries.
- Basic computer skills for report generation, inventory maintenance, and scheduling.
- High school diploma or GED.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ServSafe certification.
- Three or more years of experience in hospitality or food service roles.
- Three or more years in a supervisory or managerial capacity within food service.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role requires the ability to lift and move supplies and food items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted. The position is physically demanding, involving extended periods of standing, walking, and various physical activities. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential.
