Job Description

PowerSecure, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Controls Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing electrical/control design on product improvements for our manufactured product lines. You will also coordinate site-wide drawings as applicable per site/project and ensure that our equipment/sites/projects are built and/or applied per engineering documents, manufacturing, and other required standards, such as UL and NEC.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm and review construction drawings, bringing concerns to the EPC and/or Operations team in a timely fashion to mitigate potential delays.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other engineering groups, sales, marketing, and operations, actively participating in project meetings, handoffs, release reviews, and design meetings as required with stakeholders.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of long-lead materials and create and verify the Bill of Materials (BoM), coordinating with the SCADA team to ensure appropriate communication components are ordered.
  • Review and verify drawing packages prior to submittal and release, ensuring compliance to common design standards.
  • Design electrical circuits for LV, MV, and DC applications, including fire alarm drawings and panel schedules.
  • Work on electrical/control systems defined in construction documentation or product specifications, including controllers, PLCs, Woodward, HMIs, switches, industrial PCs, and DC systems.
  • Identify and execute processes to reduce overall costs to manufacture, install, and operate our products.
  • Ensure schedules and milestone dates are achieved in the ERP system, providing feedback to the Engineering Manager if issues arise.
  • Prepare engineering drawings from sketches, verbal descriptions, specifications, and technical information.
  • Be available to work 40 hours and overtime when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required, electrical preferred.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as construction drawings, construction specifications, single lines, product manuals, sequence of operations, control drawings, work instructions, written directions, and markups to electrical/control drawings.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and have a positive can-do attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including collaborating with other teams.
  • Occasionally required to inspect products in-progress in manufacturing.
  • Occasionally assist in moving materials and equipment that weigh ~40 lbs.
  • Proficient with 2-D AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software.
  • Knowledgeable with UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
