Key Responsibilities:

The Nutritional Services Aide is responsible for ensuring that food preparation and sanitation standards are upheld in a safe environment. This role includes:

  • Preparing and serving meals according to dietary requirements set by healthcare professionals.
  • Completing additional tasks as directed by the Dietary Services Director.

Essential Functions:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Effective communication skills with residents and staff in English.
  • The ability to read and write in English.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.
  • Skills to visually monitor residents and respond to their verbal needs.
  • Physical agility to bend, stoop, and stretch to assist residents.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Competence in using kitchen equipment safely.
  • Preparedness to respond to emergencies, including resident evacuations.

Qualifications:

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in the food service sector.
  • Completion of annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Health Assessment.
  • Knowledge of sanitary food preparation standards.
  • Required references and a background check.

Work Environment:

This role is set in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment, with potential exposure to residents with communicable diseases or those who may exhibit confusion. Occasional outdoor work may be required during resident events.

Appropriate protective gear must be worn when handling chemicals or cleaning up spills. Proficiency in using food preparation equipment such as slicers, grinders, mixers, dishwashers, and stoves is essential.
