About Our Cardiac Care Unit

Our Cardiac Care Unit is a 29-bed unit that specializes in the care of cardiac patients. We have two separate units, each with a unique focus on providing high-level nursing care to patients recovering from open heart surgeries, heart catheterization with stent placement, ablations, pacemaker/AICD placement, and cardiovascular surgeries.

Types of Patients We Care For
  • Acute and chronic heart failure
  • Electrophysiology (pacemaker, ablation)
  • Structural heart (mitral clip, TAVR, TMVR, watchmen, valve angioplasty)
  • Post-operative day one open heart surgery patients
  • Post-cardiac catheterization
What Makes Us Special

We are one of the few hospitals that care for patients receiving the TAVR procedure outside of the ICU. Our close collaboration with cardiology providers ensures that we are providing the best evidenced-based care. Our nurses work closely with physicians to provide high-level nursing care for a variety of patients requiring critical care outside of the ICU.

Opportunities for Growth

Working in our Cardiac Care Unit is a great way to build your critical thinking and skills. Our nurses have the opportunity to grow into areas such as ICU, cardiac cath lab, EP lab, or leadership. We work collaboratively with other departments in the facility to ease any transition you may be interested in making. Typically, nurses are able to successfully progress to other positions or departments in 18 to 24 months.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 60 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
