Role Summary:
Administers anesthesia to patients undergoing various medical procedures, including surgical, obstetrical, and diagnostic interventions, utilizing general, regional, or monitored anesthesia techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducts thorough pre-operative assessments efficiently, which includes taking patient history, performing physical examinations, and developing a comprehensive anesthesia care plan.
2. Documents assessments and plans meticulously, ensuring clear communication of care, associated risks, and benefits to patients and their families.
3. Assembles necessary equipment and medications, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
4. Achieves departmental quality metrics, including timely turnover and adherence to quality improvement submissions.
5. Engages in ongoing education and professional development, contributing to institutional committees and enhancing the clinical learning environment for peers.
6. Participates in performance improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing strategies to improve patient outcomes.
7. Maintains accurate anesthesia records and related documentation in a clear and organized manner.
8. Provides anesthesia care in accordance with established standards, ensuring a safe environment for patients, administering anesthesia, monitoring patient status, and making necessary adjustments during procedures.
Additional Information
Educational Requirements:
Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid license as an Advanced Practice Provider (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in North Carolina, with board certification as required.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary for this role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Essential competencies include strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
