Job Summary

Harbor is seeking a highly skilled Health Information Records Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, both in electronic and paper formats.
  • Prepare and process health/medical records disclosure documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Scanning and electronically attaching documents to patient records, as required.
  • Disassembling, organizing, and tabulating medical chart paperwork into the electronic health record.
  • Providing quality and timely support to internal and external customers, striving for customer satisfaction.
  • Attending staff meetings and serving on agency committees as assigned.
  • Staying current with trends and developments related to health/medical record disclosure and essential job competencies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in health information management or health information administration preferred.
  • RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA and privacy laws, with the ability to handle sensitive information and meet confidentiality laws/regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people.
  • Flexibility, excellent organizational and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
