Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is on the lookout for a Project Engineer to enhance our Traffic Engineering division.

Joining our expanding team, you will engage in a variety of design and traffic operations projects, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate with both internal teams and external clients in a dynamic environment. Our experts have successfully executed projects in diverse settings, from urban landscapes to rural areas, including both minor enhancements and extensive corridor developments on some of the nation's most renowned transportation infrastructures. You will leverage engineering principles to provide technical support for project design teams across a wide spectrum of initiatives, including traffic management, roadway design, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, traffic signal systems, safety enhancements, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices.
  • Assess, select, and implement engineering techniques to produce designs, reports, and presentation materials essential for project success.
  • Investigate design alternatives and apply relevant codes and standards.
  • Interpret multidisciplinary drawings for specific projects.
  • Prepare concept designs and navigate approval processes, including obtaining necessary permits.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and planners to develop complete project designs that fulfill client requirements.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and generate cost estimates.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control by validating design methodologies and outcomes.
  • Adhere to project schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks established by project managers.
  • Participate in meetings and present specific aspects of assignments.
  • Assist in the development of proposals for professional services.
  • Guide engineers and technicians in their tasks.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, supervisors, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation to create plans and 3D models.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation, traffic, or highway design.
  • Possession of a P.E. license in New Jersey (or the ability to obtain one), with PTOE certification being advantageous.
  • Experience with NJDOT or local projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and other relevant transportation guidelines.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, or similar software.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English for effective communication.
