As a key member of the University of Virginia Health System, the Ambulatory Pharmacist plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in the Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide optimal drug product selection, dosage regimen design, and effective administration services to patients.
  • Enter prescribing clinician orders into the appropriate computer application.
  • Process prescribing clinician's orders (prescriptions) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and provide guidance as needed.
  • Offer drug information to patients, caregivers, and providers to promote informed decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local Health System regulations and published guideline documents.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
  • No experience required, but a strong understanding of pharmacy principles and practices is essential.
  • Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License and American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands:

The Ambulatory Pharmacist must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods, with the ability to lift, push, and pull as needed. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are essential, as well as the ability to write legibly.
