Role Overview:
Responsible for ensuring the safe and effective utilization of medications by conducting thorough medication order evaluations while assessing optimal drug selection, dosage regimen design, effective administration, and drug therapy monitoring services within the UVA Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor both inpatient and outpatient drug therapies as necessary, collaborating with medical staff to identify alternatives when required to guarantee the highest quality of care.
2. Provide comprehensive clinical pharmaceutical care to patients, enhancing the overall quality of care delivery.
3. Exhibit proficiency in pharmacy distributive services and support the educational and professional growth of the Pharmacy department.
4. Engage in ongoing professional self-development to stay current in the field.
Additional Duties:
Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Compensation:
Position Compensation Range: $83.94 Hourly
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or a Pharm. D Degree is required.
Experience: A PGY-1 residency is required or equivalent hospital experience; PGY-2 residency is preferred for specialty areas.
Licensure: Must possess a valid license from the Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy and hold American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, repetitive motion such as typing, and proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and the ability to write legibly are essential. The role may involve lifting, pushing, or pulling weights of less than 20 lbs and exposure to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
