Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Signal Technician to join our Traffic Engineering Maintenance team in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing traffic signal maintenance and repairs in accordance with established safety standards and VDOT policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform traffic signal repairs and maintenance to ensure optimal signal performance and safety.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections of electronic devices and related equipment to identify potential issues and prevent downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair electronic devices and signal equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Respond to emergency situations and serve in an on-call capacity to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of traffic signal maintenance and operations, including safety standards and VDOT policies.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple competing assignments and maintain accurate records.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Knowledge of management systems, including timing plans and graphic design.
  • Ability to serve in an on-call capacity and respond to emergency situations within a specified period.
  • Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment to perform maintenance on traffic signals.
  • Ability to physically perform hands-on inspections of signals, components, and use required equipment in various environments.
  • Knowledge of traffic control devices, signal equipment, and their operation.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate technical information effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IMSA Roadway Lighting certification.
  • Commercial Driver's License.
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Level I technician certification.
  • Combination of training experience or education in electronics or related field.
