With a dedicated staff of over 170, we provide safe havens, transitional housing, legal assistance, hotline support, and educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:
The Housekeeper will ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the Emergency Shelter, which includes resident rooms and administrative areas. Key duties encompass:

  • Maintaining cleanliness in accordance with established procedures and schedules.
  • Performing tasks such as trash disposal, dusting, spot cleaning, bathroom sanitation, vacuuming, and mopping.
  • Ensuring community areas are sanitized and preparing bedrooms for new residents.
  • Adhering to safety protocols for the handling and use of cleaning agents.
  • Assisting with additional housekeeping or related projects as needed.

All tasks are executed in alignment with our mission and values, incorporating a trauma-informed approach.

Qualifications:

  1. A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  2. Prior experience in janitorial services is essential, with a preference for residential cleaning experience.
  3. Proficiency in reading, understanding, and communicating in English is required.
  4. Ability to effectively engage with a diverse population is necessary; experience in urban settings is advantageous.
  5. Strong teamwork skills are essential.
  6. Physical capability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform regular bending, standing, and general physical activities.
  7. Bilingual candidates are highly preferred.
  8. Participation in JARS Domestic Violence Advocate Training is required post-hire (compensated).
  9. Successful completion of Child Abuse, Criminal, and FBI clearances is required prior to hiring and ongoing employment (cost covered by the employer).

Work Schedule: Part-time, benefit-eligible, 33 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday, 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Compensation: $16.47 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, and dental coverage, paid time off, annual salary increases, and retention bonuses for every two years of service.
