We are seeking a highly skilled Sr./Principal Mixed-Signal Digital Architect to partner with our external facing teams and internal engineering team to deliver cutting-edge products to the market. As an architect, you will provide detailed technical documents outlining the necessary components for our engineering team, requiring a deep understanding of process technology, state-of-the-art chip design, and effective communication skills. You will represent Lightmatter externally at technical conferences, showcasing our technical leadership.

In this role, you will define the architecture of digital circuits that enable a groundbreaking photonic-based communication fabric. Your work will not only facilitate AMS/photonic devices at a low level but also ensure seamless interfaces with firmware/software. You will collaborate directly with our vendors and customers. Additionally, you will contribute to defining product and technological roadmaps, along with suitable design and verification methodologies.

The selected candidate will report directly to the Chief Scientist and closely collaborate with our digital, analog, photonic, and software teams. We prefer someone with extensive experience in architecting digital circuits for high-speed AMS systems, preferably including photonic circuits.

Responsibilities:
- Own the digital architecture of Lightmatter's Passage product, working closely with the architecture team, chip-design team, and software team.
- Oversee the digital architecture from initial concept through high-volume production, collaborating with technical program managers to plan, organize, and execute.
- Partner with top-tier semiconductor customers throughout the product development process at the system architecture level.
- Design and specify system-level digital designs integrating complex AMS and photonic circuits, including high-speed drivers and receivers, SerDes, ADC/DAC, photonic modulators, and detectors.
- Collaborate with the product team to develop our future technological and product roadmap.
- Work closely with test and validation engineers to validate hardware against simulation predictions.
- Actively collaborate with RTL and DV teams to enable block-level implementation and verification, respectively.
- Author, review, and validate architectural specifications. Produce customer-facing product datasheets and reference designs with the product and applications engineering teams.
- Identify potential improvements and pitfalls (including mitigation strategies) around executing proposed architectures.

Qualifications:
- 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelors' degree, or 8+ years and a Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of power-efficient digital design flow for high-speed AMS electronics, preferably on photonic communication channels.
- Proven track record of delivering successful high-volume silicon products to the market.
- Proven understanding of silicon product development flow.
- In-depth knowledge of digital circuit design in high-speed analog/photonic links, including device bringup, control, and digital signal processing.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, specifically pertaining to problems without obvious solutions.
- Excellent customer and vendor communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of SerDes PCS layer and equalization along with forward error-correction schemes.
- Ability and desire to collaborate in a cross-disciplinary team.
- Power user of multiple development tools, including CAD tools, SPICE simulators, IBIS-AMI simulators, and general programming languages (e.g., MATLAB or Python).
