Outpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

UC San Diego Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Outpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our mental health care team, you will provide specialized mental health care services to patients in an outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and manage psychiatric disorders in patients of all ages, including pediatric, child, adolescent, and adult populations.
- Conduct in-depth interviews with patients, construct comprehensive medical histories, and perform initial and periodic physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management and therapy.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting healthy coping mechanisms and self-care strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and evidence-based treatments in psychiatric nursing.
- Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP).
- Valid DEA license, and/or ability to furnish upon hire.
- Certified by the County to place patients on legal holds (e.g. 5150, 5250).
- Current BART certification, or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Minimum six (6) months of licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner work experience.
- Advanced post-graduate PMHNP fellowship program completion.
