Job Summary:

As a Lead Civil Structural and Architectural Designer at Bechtel Corporation, you will play a critical role in coordinating the work of Civil/Structural Designers with Engineers and EGS to optimize design team efficiency. This working lead position requires not only managing workflow but also reviewing and checking drawings for quality assurance and originating deliverables on critical tasks. You will communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to EGS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and review design work to ensure compliance with procedures, high quality, applicable codes, and regulations.
  • Ensure assigned Civil/Structural Designer scope is performed in a manner that is compliant with procedures, high quality, applicable codes, and regulations, timely, cost-effective, and to a professional standard.
  • Provide coaching and direction to less experienced designers to enhance their skills and support the design effort.
  • Monitor and check work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation, and construction economy.
  • Prepare design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.
  • Maintain up-to-date skills in Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) relevant to design work and ensure maximum use thereof.
  • Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.
Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recognized as an advanced contributor with a specialized skill set.
  • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of the area of specialization, resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways.
