Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Soil and Concrete Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing tests on construction materials such as soil and concrete for quality control/quality assurance in a laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct tests on construction materials in accordance with appropriate test standards and document results
  • Ensure that tests are performed properly and in accordance with test standards; perform retests as necessary and note test result deviations
  • Log in samples to specific test specimen identification books
  • Audit and train field staff on soil classification, sample collection procedures, test specimen fabrication, test specimen labeling, and field equipment care
  • Assist the supervising laboratory technician to ensure that lab and field equipment receive periodic calibration and are maintained properly
  • Read project plans, interpret project specifications, and apply those interpretations to laboratory work frequency and other minimum frequencies required
  • Assist the supervising laboratory technician with inspections of the laboratory by accrediting bodies
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field ideal, but not necessary
  • Experience with laboratory testing of construction materials desirable
  • Ability to comprehend test standards, practices, and specifications, and use spreadsheet software to analyze data
  • Ability to obtain industry certifications with full support from CME
  • Valid driver's license required
