Position Overview:

The Tax Accounting Supervisor plays a crucial role within the tax accounting division of our finance team. This position entails overseeing and managing the responsibilities of the tax accounting department, which includes the preparation of corporate tax budgets, accounting for tax accruals, and analyzing budget discrepancies while projecting future variations.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

+ Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports for stakeholders

+ Preparing and submitting state and federal income tax returns, along with various other state tax filings

+ Supporting audits conducted by the IRS, state tax authorities, and for financial statements

+ Maintaining ownership of internal controls over tax-related processes and documentation

+ Anticipating and communicating potential impacts on cash flow and earnings

+ Staying updated on tax regulations and interpretations, conducting research as necessary for tax law changes and new transactions

+ Developing and mentoring tax department staff

+ Fostering strong collaborative relationships with other departments within the organization

+ Creating a work environment that embraces change and encourages continuous improvement

+ Providing support during emergency restoration efforts

Qualifications:

Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn new software

+ Demonstrated knowledge of technical accounting principles and problem-solving skills

+ Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative approach to teamwork

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Strong organizational capabilities and multitasking skills

+ Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

+ Experience in public accounting

+ In-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations

+ Previous supervisory experience

+ Familiarity with the regulated utility sector

+ Experience in tax accounting and reporting

+ Knowledge of mainframe systems, Powerplan, or OneSource tax software

+ Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies

Pay range: $109,200 - $163,800
