We are seeking dedicated Fire Alarm Service and Installation Technicians to enhance our team.
Compensation range: $30 - $56 /hr. based on relevant skills, experience, licenses, and certifications.
As a Fire Alarm Service & Installation Technician, your primary duties will include the installation, programming, and repair of fire alarm panel systems, ensuring that all systems and equipment function according to established specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fire alarm commissioning to verify that systems and equipment operate according to specifications.
- Perform on-site routine and emergency troubleshooting, programming, and repairs, alongside the installation, inspection, testing, and servicing of low voltage life safety products and fire alarm systems.
- Foster positive relationships with customers and relay information to the appropriate personnel for follow-up, quotes, inquiries, or concerns.
- Identify code violations and non-conformance issues, correcting them in accordance with standards.
- Document and maintain detailed work reports and service tickets.
- Interpret various blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and product manuals to accurately program and verify systems.
- Provide customer training regarding proper device usage, preventative maintenance, and care to avert future system malfunctions.
- Assess customer sites for additional equipment and services that may be needed.
- Discuss identified deficiencies with customers, explaining the issues and proposed solutions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Fire Alarm Service Technician.
- At least 2 years' experience as a journeyman low voltage electrician.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- NICET II Fire Alarm Systems certification or higher preferred.
- EL-O6 (Limited Energy Technician) Electrical License required.
- Experience with EST Fire Alarm Panel programming is a plus.
- Familiarity with NFPA Standards (including 70 and 72) and local AHJ requirements is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Apple IOS, and Android.
- Valid state-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Working Environment:
- Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasional work in high or precarious places, handling toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- Noise levels are generally moderate.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Regularly lift and carry toolboxes, tools, equipment, parts, cabling, and wiring.
- Must be able to push or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent ladder climbing, often while carrying up to 50 pounds.
