Quality Manager Job Description

At the University of Dayton, we are seeking a highly skilled Quality Manager to join our team. As a strategic leader, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Quality Management System (QMS) to meet the needs of our focus areas, including materials development and testing, digital and systems engineering, and advanced manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust QMS that aligns with our high standards and certifications.
  • Oversee quality processes throughout the research/development, design, testing, and manufacturing phases.
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and ensure first-time quality in all we do.
  • Manage non-conformance evaluations & resolutions and drive continuous improvement through training and lean six sigma methodologies.
  • Lead the UDRI Quality team and delegates, guiding their performance, development, and alignment with our goals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, engineering/manufacturing technology, or a related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in quality management or related areas.
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace quality or another industrial industry.
  • Experience in setting up or leading manufacturing quality metrics within a structured QMS.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a structured QMS environment, including responsibilities such as developing, implementing, maintaining, or auditing procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with owning and managing a high-level QMS.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
  • Recognized quality-related certification (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt, ASQ certification, etc).
