Job Title: Registered Nurse - Neurosciences

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Neurosciences team in Arlington, Virginia.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides high-quality patient care and coordinates care delivery through effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient health assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Provide patient and family-centered care, integrating knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients throughout the continuum of care.
  • Advocate for patients' rights and provide counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
  • Access resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
  • Document all patient care activities and assist healthcare team members with documentation.
  • Evaluate the process to achieve outcomes, anticipate patient variances, and make revisions to plans of care.
  • Make clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.
  • Communicate effectively, work cooperatively with others, and have respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines.
  • Assist staff to assess patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education.
  • Provide direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor and delegate patient care activities and coordinates unit activities as needed.
  • Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery and ensure that the process for delivery of care is synthesized from direct patient/family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration.
  • Evaluate clinical and quality outcomes and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree (BSN) or Associate's Degree with a commitment to obtain BSN within five years of hire.
  • One year of Registered Nurse (RN) experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required upon start.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse (RN) upon start.
