Job Summary

Corewell Health is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Center at our Troy Hospital location. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with diseases and adverse health conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients' physical and psychosocial status through interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians to formulate treatment plans and provide follow-up care.
  • Write prescriptions for medication, blood products, and other therapeutic measures as needed.
  • Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials based on findings.
  • Request written consultations from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
  • Interpret and evaluate findings of studies and tests.
  • Communicate patient care information to collaborating physicians.
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed.
  • Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend improvements.
  • Initiate actions to implement therapeutic plans that meet patients' ongoing healthcare needs.
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response, and plan.
  • Maintain provision of preventive health services, including screening, risk assessment, immunizations, and self-breast exams.
  • Dictate or write patient history, admissions, care plans, progress, and discharge notes.
  • Interact with program assistants and data managers for optimal patient care.
  • Assist in managing family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patient care.
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds to ensure quality and effective care for assigned patients.
  • Provide on-call coverage and perform patient triage to determine the urgency of physician evaluation.
  • Provide symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or a Master's in Physician Assistant studies.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice nurse in a specialty clinical setting, preferred.
  • State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required.
  • AHA/ARC BLS certification required.
