Job Summary and Qualifications

A Certified Respiratory Therapist IV requires specialized training in respiratory care. The therapist is responsible for respiratory procedures and equipment within the facility.

  • Perform arterial puncture and ABG analysis upon department certification.
  • Manage procurement, storage, handling, and dispensing of therapeutic gases.
  • Assess the patient's clinical condition and recommend appropriate therapy, taking necessary actions in case of adverse reactions.
  • Administer prescribed therapy in accordance with department protocols.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in the patient's condition, whether improvement or deterioration.
  • Administer and monitor oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, humidification, HHN, surfactant, and oxy-hoods for critically ill patients.
  • Conduct therapeutic percussion, vibration, and bronchial drainage.
  • Assist in intubation and nasal CPAP procedures upon hospital certification and maintain stabilization.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an AMA-approved 1- or 2-year Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Current State of California RCP License.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Current PALS certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an acute care setting.
