We are seeking a Head of Trading Technology to oversee the Crypto Trading division.
The Role
The Head of Trading Technology will be responsible for the design and implementation of high-quality, timely, and maintainable software solutions within an agile framework that fulfill both functional and non-functional business needs. This position requires active engagement with partners and stakeholders, as well as support during design and release phases. This is a hands-on role, requiring individual contribution.
- Architecting and deploying technology solutions for the Fidelity Digital Assets™ business
- Developing high-performance algorithms for trading and cryptocurrency
- Collaborating closely with business partners to drive critical initiatives
- Showcasing software engineering excellence through continuous integration and deployment practices
- Staying updated with IT frameworks and technologies that enhance productivity; mentoring junior team members on technical matters
- Engaging with multiple stakeholders and large cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Advocating for innovative solutions to boost productivity
- Actively writing code for product features as part of this hands-on role
- Setting the technical direction for software developers in collaboration with other tech leads and architects
Required Expertise and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering
- Strong expertise in designing and developing low-latency trading systems
- Familiarity with WebSocket and FIX protocols
- Experience in constructing matching engines, OMS/EMS, or exchange connectivity platforms
- Proficiency in kernel bypass technologies, such as Solarflare OpenOnLoad
- Extensive experience with modern Java, particularly utilizing zero GC patterns
- Expertise in ultra-low latency design patterns and optimizing trading systems
- Hands-on experience with low-latency messaging products like Aeron, Solace, or 29West
- Proficient in SQL and knowledgeable about relational and time-series databases
- Experience in designing APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous workers, and resilient messaging services
- Understanding of microservice architecture and cloud-based deployments
- Ability to create reliable software capable of functioning in unreliable environments
- Leadership and mentorship capabilities across small, agile teams in a collaborative setting
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Interest in and experience with cryptocurrencies, with a commitment to staying informed in the field
- Drive and capability to deliver software with a high degree of automation
- Proficient with version control systems and adept at managing multiple releases concurrently
