Senior Internal Auditor, Operations and Compliance Specialist

About the Role
As a Senior Internal Auditor, Operations and Compliance, you will lead and conduct environmental, health, and safety audits, interviews, document reviews, and develop and administer surveys to ensure operations and facilities meet compliance requirements and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational risk-based audits/projects and audit teams, ensuring team productivity, quality, and timely results.
- Assess risks/controls from an integrated business control framework and collaborate with management to mitigate risks.
- Support risk/control awareness and self-assessment throughout American Water.
- Ensure communication and performance of responsibilities is organized, efficient, proactive, timely, cost-effective, and professional.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, environmental science, or equivalent.
- Minimum of six (6) years operating experience in water/wastewater treatment.
- Experience in implementation/audits of environmental management systems or equivalent preferred.
- Working in a team-based environment is required.
- Proficiency with ERP and fixed assets systems such as SAP and PowerPlan is a plus.
