Job Summary
The Director of Quality and Commissioning will lead the team responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of NTT's facilities. This includes overseeing the commissioning process, managing data center construction projects, and developing quality and commissioning procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team of Quality and Commissioning Managers to ensure quality build/installation of facilities and robust implementation of the commissioning process.
- Manage data center commissioning project delivery strategy in alignment with the company's roadmap.
- Develop, implement, and ensure participation in the company's Quality and Commissioning processes.
- Develop Quality/Commissioning Procedures and Standards.
- Refine practices/policies and develop methods/techniques for driving solutions, including development of quality/commissioning procedures.
- Provide global oversight of the contracted Commissioning Agent assigned to a Data Center construction project.
- Perform/site inspections to support execution of Quality and Commissioning process.
- Regularly review Construction Progress, QA/QC, Commissioning progress, issues, and KPI metrics to report to management.
- Coordinate meetings and activities of vendor project managers, including integration of lessons learned.
- Attend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and report as necessary.
- Lead, influence, and performance manage a team of Quality/Commissioning personnel.
Requirements
- Technical knowledge of MEP systems.
- Agile team leader who is additive to the team, will develop employees, and seek to further success.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff.
- Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems.
- Ability to operate in and promote a process-driven team environment.
- Ability to logically analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to effectively multi-task multiple projects.
- Data Center Commissioning.
- Data Center Operation and Maintenance.
- Understanding of UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and critical mechanical systems.
- Construction QA/QC.
- Able to develop and write detailed Commissioning Scripts.
- Issue identification and resolution management.
- Project Management.
- English Language skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Visio, MS Project.
Education and Experience
- Degree required - BSEE, associate in engineering technology.
- 7 or more years in a data center environment managing projects/operations, including 5 years Data Center commissioning experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Quality management systems that can be applied to data centers.
- Data Center construction project management.
- Very Strong experience in Data Center facility maintenance, operation, and/or commissioning.
- Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Test Equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs.
- Use of sight, hearing, and voice are required as well as motor skills.
- Close visual work on a computer terminal.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms.
- Ability to transition through construction projects at every phase safely.
Work Conditions
- This position is expected to be remote for the foreseeable future with occasional need to be on site.
- Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
- Extensive daily usage of a computer or workstation.
- Travel up to 35%, to ensure quality, commission, and deliver the project as client turn over dates require.
Special Requirements
- Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast-paced environment shifting priorities.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.
- Must be available by cell phone after hours or for emergency situations.
- CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
