**Job Summary**

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for directing and managing occupational safety, health, and industrial hygiene functions within the Red Hill Program at Compunnel Inc. This role reports directly to the Program Manager/Site Manager and indirectly to the Corporate Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Director.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Provide safety oversight, including a minimum of one Competent Person at the project site to function as the Site Safety and Health Officer.
  • Promote a safety culture and policies by training the workforce in safety principles and plans, coordinating, administering, and overseeing all Safety and Health Program activities carried out by Corporate.
  • Conduct facility surveys (staff assistance visits and audits) to evaluate the effectiveness of local programs and identify areas of nonconformance or potential liability for the program.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing Action Plans, leading to successful mitigation or elimination of adversities.
  • Conduct follow-on monitoring to keep senior management informed of progress and attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Provide professional guidance and advice regarding conformance with current and anticipated worker protection and safety standards.
  • Review current and updated worker protection laws, standards, and regulations and identify requirement changes to management.
  • Develop and implement programs to address new requirements and sponsor Corporate-directed ESH initiatives.
  • Review data and provide reports for monthly ESH metrics, as well as reports for the Quarterly Progress.
  • Coordinate and have oversight responsibility for the conduct of the Occupational Health Program.
  • Review job requirements and identify to management those work processes with known inherent occupational exposures that can adversely impact an employee's health.
  • Compile and analyze accident, injury, and property loss data to identify root-cause relationships and trends that can adversely impact workers' compensation costs.
  • Assist management with formulating Corrective Action Plans to reduce incidents and lower insurance-related costs.
  • Review operational plans and specifications for project start-ups or close-outs to ensure that appropriate safety and health considerations are addressed.
  • Develop and support achievement of performance metrics for the corporate.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.

**Requirements**

  • Bachelor's Degree, 4+ years. Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity. Contributes to team objectives and outcomes.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • EM-385 Certification.
  • Safety and Health Degree preferred.
