NUTRITIONAL CHEF QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience in a Dietary Department, large-scale food preparation, and service is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with sufficient skills to fulfill the required tasks.

NUTRITIONAL CHEF ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Nutritional Chef is responsible for preparing menu items according to established standards, serving food attractively and at the correct temperature, and implementing proper sanitation and food handling practices for optimal infection control.

  • Performs job duties safely as outlined in the physical, sensory, and mental requirements.
  • Reads menus, recipes, and reviews meal preparation steps with the Director of Dietary Services.
  • Prepares menu items in accordance with established standards.
  • Determines the quantity of food required for meal preparation.
  • Follows established recipes.
  • Utilizes proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Prepares substitute items to accommodate residents' individual dietary needs.
  • Serves meals according to portion sizes listed on the menu.
  • Covers, dates, and labels leftovers, storing them appropriately.
  • Adheres to established security protocols.
  • Employs proper infection control techniques and uses protective equipment as necessary.
  • Supervises dietary staff in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director of Dietary Services.
  • Receives and verifies deliveries against invoices in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director of Dietary Services.
  • Maintains the kitchen facility in a clean and sanitary condition, including floors, walls, equipment, and utensils.
  • Handles dishwashing of pots, pans, and other designated items.
